Hello! My name is Jenny Albrecht. I'm from Saskatchewan and this is my first year teaching five day clubs. Prayer requests: Support, Patience, wisdom

Hello again everyone.

It’s week five and I am ready to be at home. Not that I don’t like being here, I am just ready to sleep in my own bed. Well my past week and a half  have been really fun and at the same time stressful.

Last week I had a great club. But before I got there the car, was well, dying. The poor thing just stopped working at a light. It worked again but I will forever and for always beware of stoplights. I was supposed to have two but since they were both smaller clubs and were very close together they got combined. That was nice (I got to sleep in!) I had one confession that club and it was awesome. She was so excited to tell her little brother about the club and got him to come the next day. He didn’t accept Christ but it was still good to have him there.

This week the clubs have been great. I have another VBS in the morning and a small club in the afternoon. The morning kids are amazing and have almost all done a verse or a lesson. We had bubbles today, and if you ever have to entertain children 4-99 you should use bubbles. The kids had a blast and we might have gone a little long to make time for the stories. The car on the other hand had become worse. On Sunday the car made a new noise, something like a quiet train was coming from the car, thankfully this afternoon my billet hostess noticed that my back wheel was wobbling while I was driving. When we took the hub cap off, 3 of the 5 nuts/bolts (as you can see I am not sure what to do with vehicles) fell off. Not only that, one of the thing-a-ma-doos that holds the tire onto the car was broken off, and, well I had one thing holding the tire on while I had been traveling the day before. In the end we tightened the the tire back onto the car and the sound went away.

Well, it’s late so I will sign off. I would really appreciate prayer for more kids in my second club, patience and wisdom for my first club, and finally for the car that it stays together.

Blessings,

Jenny

Well to start off, I should probably apologize for blogging less than I should. Of course you have all these other wonderful blogs to read so I’m sure no one missed me all that much. So for those of you who don’t know I didn’t know who my billet would be until I had started driving, and I got a little turned around (I still hold to the fact that GPS’s are dumb, give me maps and signs any day) and ended up arriving later than expected. But honestly, there could not have been a better billet for me. This family is similar to my own in ways that I can’t even describe. While it’s comforting it’s also lonely because as much as they fit me in, I still miss my family. This week has been great so far. Each day I go from a small club to my nice big VBS.

My first club is rather small so keeping the energy up there is pretty tough. For the first three days it was only the hostess’s children at the club which was kind of discouraging, but as everyone knows God answers prayer, and lo and behold today there was another little boy (who really wants a button so he is planning on bringing friends tomorrow!) This really boosted my spirit and I was again amazed at all that God can do.

The second club is a VBS, so it is a tad larger with 24 kiddos. This club is so much fun, and God has to be the one working here because I know I do not have that much energy in me normally. All these kids are precious and I love them all dearly. Learning names proved a challenge until the end of the second day. (I still mess up.) These kids love learning verses and doing their lessons. We have a challenge to see who can be louder saying the verses from memory every day and they absolutely love that. So far it’s 7-6 for the girls. We did have to cut the VBS short yesterday due to weather conditions, but we managed to fit in the Bible story so all was well. All the kids are excited to find out what happens to The Little Rascal though. I also found today that I had forgotten to introduce myself to these kids; I am now Miss Jen apparently.

So far this has been an awesome week. Thank you for your prayer, God bless.

Sincerely, cordially, affectionately,

Miss Jen

Hello again,

Well this week was fantastic, we had 8 decisions this week which was awesome. Apparently I have to watch my use of big words like “awe struck” next week, but other than that the stories were wonderful. It’s so cool to be able to teach these kids Bible stories (and extra stories) that can get them interested in Jesus. My partners, Danae and Rose, have both done excellent jobs at teaching stories and verses and the like so I have to admit next week teaching on my own is a scary prospect. I am so glad that God put these two partners in my life this week. They have been awesome.

Not only were my partners amazing, each club had some amazing kids. The kids this week were the kindest, well behaved (mostly) children I’ve met. I love all of them dearly and almost hate to go tomorrow.

Sincerely, cordially, affectionately,

Jenny

Well it’s week one and everything is falling into place. Danae and I made it safely to Moose Jaw. We may have gotten  lost once or twice, but hey, we made it. Rose is due to arrive on Tuesday and we are really looking forward to her arrival. Our billets have been super welcoming and we are so appreciative.

This week we ask for prayer for adjusting  to new sleeping quarters (it takes me forever to get used to a new bed, but Danae apparently sleeps like a rock.) and safe travels for Rose.

Goodnight to you all!
