Hi! I'm Tiara. I'm from Swift Current area and I'm currently studying Child & Youth Care in Medicine Hat, AB. Some prayer requests for me would be: 1) that I have consistent energy throughout clubs, 2) that I can form meaningful connections with the kids, and 3) just lastly, prayer for the kids themselves, that they may be spiritually & emotionally well. Thank you so much and God bless.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

This most recent week has been absolutely nuts! Highlights (?)

  • Flat tire! Mud, lots of it! Two stuck vehicles! Lots & lots of rain!
  • Two clubs without a hostess or set location!
  • Nearly 70 kids in total

Poundmaker was the most incredible club for me this week. Last year, it seemed impossible to host a club there. We had almost no support from the reserve & on the last two days we were locked out of the band hall. This year, we had no hostess and had the freedom to set up where we wanted.

  • On the first day, we had 7 kids right off the bat!
  • By the second day, we had 17! I was amazed as I had been somewhat nervous about this club, seeing as we’d reached a grand total of 5 kids last year.
  • We also reached 15 at Little Pine the first day we held club there, despite having no hostess there either
  • We had 10 decisions on the second day. 4 on Poundmaker, 6 on Little Pine.
  • On the third day, however, we took a wrong turn and ended up with a flat tire. Before we could deal with the situation, it started raining. We ended up being unable to hold club that day.
  • On the last day, it was still raining. The only club we were able to hold that day was at Sweetgrass, and was taught by Jean while my dad & I dealt with the car.

Because we have no hostess on Poundmaker or Little Pine, we couldn’t let the kids know club was cancelled. Jean & I plan to head out there this Sunday to make it up to them. Please pray that we can reach a few more. The harvest is plentiful.

Thank you & God bless.

Hi guys! Guess it’s time for a few updates (my mom is harassing me haha).

Honestly, we have so many stories from these past few weeks. For now, I’d just like to share this story from Moosomin First Nation during Week Two.

The first kids we got at this club were a group of three siblings, who told me on the way that they were tired of social services taking them away from their parents. They were staying on the rez with their kokum and all three had some definite discipline problems. I wasn’t expecting much for verses or lessons from any of them.

On the last day, however, the oldest girl (8) showed up with a pile of lessons we’d given her yesterday. Every one was finished and she’d clearly read through the stories carefully!! I was so impressed, but it was what happened next that really stuck with me:

So all this summer, Jean has been a huge blessing for me. I have a tendency to forget to pray before club, and she is constantly reminding me, both in & outside club, to talk to our Creator. Anyway, on this day Jean was out finishing up craft with some kids, and wasn’t there to remind me to pray before snack.

I began to hand out snack, and all of a sudden I noticed this particular girl, kneeling, her hands folded and eyes closed as she prayed before she ate her snack!! She had never been to church before or had any Christian influence. The only thing I can think is that she learned this from her lessons. I was amazed and seeing this reminded me to pray with the rest of the kids. The transformation I saw in this girl from the beginning of club to the end was incredible!

In total, we had 9 decisions during Week Two. God is so good.

Hey guys! So Jean and I figured we should say a few things about what’s been going on in North Battleford area!

  • We were teaching at Red Pheasant & Mosquito reserves last week. (Our last club was unfortunately cancelled, but that’s another story)
  • We felt a little discouraged at first, because only two kids showed up at Red Pheasant and four at Mosquito. However, this gave us time to connect with our hostesses and learn about each reserve’s situation.
  • It turns out Mosquito has not had a church for over twenty years–theirs burned down, and only in the past couple weeks have they started having small services at the band hall.
  • But!! By our second day of teaching, the Mosquito club had grown a lot!! We got a handful of older girls who showed up halfway through and immediately began making posters for us, saying things like ‘5 Day Clubs is cool’ & ‘We love 5 Day Clubs’
  • We eventually made a wall of posters because the kids made us so many!
  • By the end of the week we’d reached a total of 44 kids on Mosquito (all unchurched), from a club that had started with only 4!
  • The important part being: we had 11 decisions this week, 2 on Red Pheasant & 9 on Mosquito, with all of our older girls coming to know Jesus!

One final thing I found super encouraging was introducing the older girls to the quizzing equipment–I started with asking them questions from the Tony story, and slowly moved on to bible verses. At one point I asked a straightforward question (‘For the wages of sin is ___’), expecting the answer to be ‘death’. But one girl jumped and quoted the entire verse flawlessly! By the end the were all super pumped about the idea of quizzing.

(Jean was also pied for the first time. I gave the kids the option of who they wanted to pie first and they all immediately pointed at her!! Compliment??)

Thank you so much for your prayers.
