So the summer has been interesting so far! Many many challenges starting with my very first week. Also, the reason I haven’t posted is cause of not having a computer and not to mention my dislike for writing long reports! I’m technically challenged with them anyways!

Week 1 – I was teaching in Blackfalds AB. First was advertising, Well, it was interesting to say the least. I had countless people slamming the door in my face and saying how much they hate God and how they would never send they’re kids to something like what I was promoting (just so we’re all clear I was promoting 5-day clubs). Then after running up to a bunch of kids and telling them about the club, I was interrupted by a broad shouldered, I would say 6 foot tattoo Tommy, who scared me temporarily away. I surveyed the situation till his vehicle left, then went and continued telling his kids about it! Nevertheless, they didn’t end up coming to the club. All I had all week was a little girl who was the hostesses daughter and she said she learned a lot from the club and so did I considering I wasn’t at the second week of training and had to basically make up actions and stuff for the songs. I ended up talking to my pastor in Blackfalds and he told me how hard of a community itiIs to reach cause most everybody in the town in into oilfield stuff and really could care less about God. This I had experienced first hand. The only thing he said we could do is keep having a 5-day club in Blackfalds and pray.

week 2 – This week I was teaching a VBS in Eckville AB and  2 clubs in Sylvan Lake!Thankfully no advertising had to be done this week so I was covered for the door slamming part. That whole week I didn’t feel well at all and that really seemed to interfere with the teaching part. I had around 15 kids till Friday at the VBS and on the last day one of the families brought their 8 cousins from the first club in Sylvan so they could have 20 kids and pie me in the face. Then they took the other cousins back to the club in Sylvan and pied me again. It was interesting and slightly frustrating. The last club I had in Sylvan was at a day home with a bunch of kids who had never heard of God and I had an amazing response at that club and over 7 decisions that week. By the end I was feeling amazing about the kids and just played out.

Week 3 – Wow, I got to travel this week and go to Maple Creek and Golden Prairie to teach. At  the club in Maple Creek, I had about 10 kids and just a few decisions for Christ along with quite a responsiveness with the kids as we held it in the cowboy church and I had lots of fun through that week between games and challenges – including some weird theological questions about places and heaven and what will happen when we get there if we sin! Golden Prairie club was held in the morning and we had 1 kid there till Thursday when we gained 2 more! It was hard in Golden Prairie to keep kids coming cause in a town the size of Golden Prairie kid numbers are through the ceiling with 3 by the end of the week!I was working with Steven McCracken after that club at the Golden Prairie school at his illustrious fish farm! All in all this week was hard cause of the many things I could get distracted with, but through it all I felt God was near as I worked to teach kids about him through his strength.

week 4 – This week I was back at home staying with my Mommy and Daddy and teaching a club at my sister -in- laws mother’s place and at a lovely couples home in Stettler. It sure was easy to get deterred during this week cause I was near all my other friends and at home. The first day of the 4 day club this week was amazing at Stettler and after I had 1 decision and many responses to the kids about more friends coming. In Lacombe I had nobody and after she talked with me about the insane amount of advertising she did we where both quite disappointed in the turnout that week. We soon had to cancel the club because of zero attendance. The next few days at Stettler proved to be rewarding considering the 5 decisions I had for Christ that whole week and the many opportunities to help the Christian kids grow. All together that whole week God helped the kids and the hostesses to gather 17 kids, still small, but at the end I was glad of how God was able to work.

Week 5 – So nowIi’m pretty much caught up with the overview part and at the past week so since it is fresh, I will try to be more specific. During this week I was also at home teaching in Red Deer at a house full of riders fans (notice how its a name and its not capitalized?)  and Blackfalds at my old quizzing coaches house. The morning in Red Deer was good, I had 2 kids at this club — plus a bunch more kids. The kids Dad was a believer and really did know his Bible backwards and forwards and upside down and stuff and stuff, but he had walked away and this week God placed me in the position to encourage those boys and even lead one to Christ! The boys Grandma had brought them to club and she said she would take the boy who asked Jesus into his heart to get his own personal Bible, this also was encouraging. Throughout the week this club was a success ending off the week with 14.5 kids and one new name written down in Heaven. Blackfalds was such a struggle, we had planned to do a 5 day club but because she had come back late late Sunday she wasn’t ready so I advertised and had the old door shut abruptly in my face a single time with quite a good response besides that. Tuesday we had 2 Spanish boys who where missionaries in Columbia along with they’re parents and they had traveled to Blackfalds to hear my club. By Friday at this club people had come and gone and we had 1 boy who said that he wanted to accept Christ when he was a teenager and not before even though i explained it to him he still felt like he didn’t want God with him till he was older. Please pray for this boy ( I will call him Jimmy Jim ) as I gave him a Bible and his Auntie was a believer who brought him to club and was really trying to teach him through everything this boy was going through.

Week by week I felt unequipped and like I was a light through God help but I never really was bold enough to say God was gonna help me each day.  This morning in Church the substitute pastor was talking about a verse in 2nd Samuel that he had always relied on though his life in missions that said: Greater are those who are in us than those who are in the world. I hope this verse will be as big of an encouragement to you as it was to me.Till next time I decide to write.  Please pray for the VBS this week in Leslieville and for the hearts of the kids!
