Hi, I'm Kaitlyn Schmidt. I am going into my third year of education at the University of Regina in the faculty of education. This is my fifth summer teaching 5-day clubs. Please Pray for: 1. Safety when driving 2. Physical and Emotional strength 3. Health (I do not want to get sick)

Wow the last week is here! This summer has gone by so fast.

This week I am in Moose Jaw. I have two clubs and one VBS. The first club has only one kid and my second club has two kids so please pray for more kids to come. I have done a little advertising and the hostesses have done some phoning but so far nothing has come from it.

The VBS so far has a total of 21 kids and I know that more new kids will be coming tomorrow! This VBS is awesome and so are the kids. Please pray for more kids and that they will learn something during the VBS.

Sorry for the late update, I didn’t have access to internet this week. This week I taught in Ormiston, which is an hour south of Moose Jaw. This was my third summer teaching here and it was awesome! I have one VBS in the morning and that is it. There were a total of 26 kids. For many of the kids this is the only time that they have stepped foot in a church. Some of the kids travel over an hour just to come. Many of the kids have come every year which is wonderful to see that they want to keep coming back. These kids are amazing and their love for God is amazing!

I am off this coming week for a vacation with my family but I will be back teaching in Moose Jaw the week after.

The weather in Regina the past two days has not been good and I went from having 4 clubs on Monday to having 1 club today. My evening club was given to some other teachers and my two afternoon clubs have been cancelled for multiple reasons. My morning club has one kid but today when I went to the house there was no one home so I waited in case other kids came today but none came. I am going to go back tomorrow and hopefully kids come.

Well, week two is done! Here is an update:

Club 1:

This club went really well but we didn’t get any more kids and the kittens still came but thankfully the kids ignored them most of the time.

Club 2:

On the last three days only 4 kids came but we still had fun. They said a lot of verses and did lots of lessons.

Club 3:

This club ended with 10 kids and lots of verses memorized!

Club 4:

The 3 girls that left on Tuesday never came back but all the other boys came back!

There were 2 decisions during this club! One boy went to church with his family and the other boy did not.

The second boy I had been praying for since Wednesday. See on Wednesday when I was telling the story of Noah he raised his hand and asked “Is this story real?”. I said “Yes, all the Bible stories are real”. He said “Okay” and then I continued with the story. I could tell by the way that he asked the question and by how focused he had been throughout the entire club that he was soaking all this information up. When I got home later that day I just had this feeling that he was going to accept Jesus as his Saviour by the end of the week so I started praying for him. Sadly that club was cancelled the next day but on Friday is wasn’t so I was able to talk to him. At the end of the club I asked if anyone wanted to accept Jesus as their Saviour and he raised his hand. We talked and he said that he looked for a Bible at home and found one so he could read it. I said that maybe he could go to church with the 5-day hostess and their family. Then we prayed and he accepted Jesus. Please pray that he can get connected to a church and will continue his walk with God.

That’s all for this week. I am in Regina again next week.

So this week I am teaching in Regina by myself. I have four clubs.

Club 1:

For the past two days there have been 3 kids. There has also been two kittens. Now I love kittens but they have been rubbing up against everything and everyone and the kids want to play with them instead of focusing on what I am teaching. So if you could please pray that the kittens will leave us alone that would be great.

Club 2:

Yesterday there were 6 kids and today there were 8. Some of the kids have been to a five day club before so they know the songs and they get really excited and want to do the actions for me while I flip the pages. I think that this is awesome that they want to get involved and it helps me because it is difficult to turn the pages and do the actions at the same time.

Club 3:

This club is an all boy club. There are 6 of them and sometimes they would rather throw grass at each other then listen. However, they are all excited to do their lessons and say their memory verses.

Club 4:

This club is a little difficult to get to because there is a lot of construction going on in this area of the city so traffic is backed up and when I go to turn onto the road to get to my club I can’t always see if there is traffic coming towards me so please pray that I don’t get into an accident on the way to my club. On Monday I had 7 boys and today there were 3 new girls but they left halfway through because they didn’t like it. Please pray that their hearts would be softened and that they come back.

So Abby and I had 3 decisions this week! One in each club, all by girls. Two were through the mailbox club lessons and one was during club.

Club 1: Lintlaw

This club went very well. We had 10 kids attend in total. There were many lessons turned in and verses said.

Club 2: Kelvington

This club started off kind of rocky but ended up proving the power of prayer and that God can work wonders. The hostess said that there were many events happening around the town so many of the kids were already busy. Her three great grandchildren, who were staying with her, were able to come the first day but they did not think that they would be back until Friday. Abby and I both prayed that somehow there would be kids there the next day. When we came on Tuesday the three great grandchildren were waiting for us and they brought a friend. Abby and I could not believe it. However, the great grandchildren said that they would not be back for the rest of the week because their mom was done work and was picking them up. So once again Abby and I prayed that there would be kids the next day. When we came on Wednesday the great grandchildren were there again and they brought 3 new friends! Abby and I were once again amazed. The great grandchildren said that their mom ended up having to work so they could stay the rest of the week. They also went out that morning and advertised around the whole town and even went to the pool and asked kids to come. Abby and I were very proud of them. We had a total of seven kids.

Club 3: Preeceville

Our billet was able to get their church to host a two day club on Wednesday and Thursday. Apparently this area of Saskatchewan is hard to preach the gospel to and many attempts for 5- day clubs in the past have failed so we jumped at the chance to have a two day club. It was a great club and even though it was only two days it was well worth it because we had one decision. At the end of the two days we had 12 kids!

I had a great time this week and next week I am in Regina and I have four clubs.

Note: Abby came up with the title 🙂

So we have an awesome club in Lintlaw that has 10 kids and so far all the kids have done their lessons and verses.

We have a second club in Kelvington. On Monday there were three kids but they did not think that they would be back today but when we drove up there they were. All the kids in Kelvington seem to be at hockey camp or gymnastic camp or at swimming so it is difficult to get kids to come to our 5-day club. However the kids that were here for the past two days have been working on inviting kids so we may still get some to come.

We also have been able to have a two day 5-day club in Preeceville tomorrow and Thursday. (The Following are words that of the Abster) Soooooo we aren’t doing the Tony story for the 2-day club at the day care because that is too too big. But we will do 4/5 of the Bible stories and 6/6 (100%) of the verses. Behold, if there’s a will (which there is), then there is —most definitely absolutely— a way!!!!!!!!!

-Also we went frog catching yesterday and we (actually I did) named it Mr Josh, after our dear friend Mr Noel.
