During my 2nd club of the day, a 4 year old boy completely blew my mind.

My club began outside, but soon the thunder clouds came and rain distracted all the kids, so we decided to continue the club inside the hostess’ house. When the kids were finally settled down and were ready to listen again, I restarted the Bible story. The story was Philip and the Eunuch. And so, finishing up my story, I was presenting the gospel, and I was reciting Romans 10:9, “for if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe that in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ” Then I related how the Ethiopian eunuch had confessed that Jesus is the Son of God and that likewise we should confess our belief in Jesus and believe in our heart and then we will be saved. As I was saying this, a little boy focuses his blue eyes on me and with the most sincere look on his face, and with all the other kids around him, he said, “I trust in Jesus!” I didn’t know what to say so I finished the story, but after the club, he left before I could talk to him. And so, driving back to my billet’s home, I thought about that little boy and how simple the gospel really is. He reminded me that we can’t do anything to make ourselves good enough for God. We can’t earn God’s forgiveness or eternal life. We don’t deserve Jesus, but to receive God’s gift, all it takes is child-like faith.

“Let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

I hope I see that little boy again tomorrow, and ask him if he has received Jesus into his heart, but I’m sure he already has. He confessed his trust in Jesus and Jesus knows his heart.

In the words of Grace Sichangwa, “Glory! Praise Jesus!”

Hello friends! My name is Joy Juson and I am 15 years old. I grew up in a Christian home and I received Jesus as my Saviour when I was a young girl. I'm very excited to be teaching little ones about God's Word and about Jesus. I hope to see myself grow as God stretches my faith. I want this summer to be about seriously living out my faith and listening to God's directions.
